Nurse Employment Opportunities Are Plentiful

The nursing shortage is so critical that nurses from foreign countries are transferring to the United States to help fill the shortages in nurse employment.  The availability of qualified nursing professionals is at an all-time low.  Hospitals, nursing homes, and other health care facilities are willing to pay top salaries to find and keep top-notch applicants to fill their nurse employment needs.

There are job recruiters who specialize in nurse employment to help fill the thousands of vacant positions.  The nursing shortage is extremely acute.  It is projected by some that in about 20 years the shortage could be as much as one and one-half million nurses.  This phenomenon is partially due to the baby boomers who will reach retirement age soon.  The number of nurses to replace them will not meet the demand and therefore the shortage will only become worse.  The large number of baby boomers (those born from 1946 through 1964) comprises nearly forty percent of the present nurse workforce, and as they leave the workforce they will need to be replaced.

Another fact to consider is that as baby boomers age, their health may deteriorate, thus requiring even more nurses.  Technology and discoveries of ways to treat aging problems ensure that people may live longer, but does not guarantee problem-free health.
